![]() no doubt
![]() ![]() ahhhh yes, No Doubt. i know a lot of you are wondering what the hell they're doing on this site. but then you remember that alien ant farm is also here, so you just grin and bear it. and SHUT THE HELL UP.
when "im just a girl" came out i hated no doubt. sure, she was talking about female equality, sure i am a female, sure i like equality, but i do not like girl fronted bands. especially when they sing about equality. it seems to me its all hype to make a statement instead of focusing on making a good song.
but then "spiderweb" came along and my stoney heart softened just enough to spend my penny candy money on Tragic Kingdom. since then i've tried to pawn the damn thing three times but no one will take it.
the only thing i found to be redeeming about the band was its band members honesty. Gwen Stefani openly takes Tony Canal onstage and rips him apart for being a "guy." its great, its retribution to its nth degree. dont get me wrong, im not that kind of femanazi, or any kind for that matter, but it was just refreshing. and apparently, millions of people felt the same way. it still didnt make me stop attempting to pawn Tragic Kingdom.... but when the Behind The Music came around (oh that life support system for bands old and new), i was glued to the set just to see how things were going with tony and gwen these days.
adrian young is so much fun it hurts to look at him with his clothes on. tom dumont seems to be a little lifeless, but i suppose hes the serious one...
so i was hooked and i bought The Return of Saturn, which is worth every single minute of every single year it took to make. its much less flaky and more musically sound. sure shes hyper obsessed with marriage and child birth, but shes the only woman i have ever heard who makes her emotions sound REAL and with that painful admission ("i always thought id be a mom / sometimes i wish for a mistake / the longer that i wait the more selfish that it gets / you seem like you'd be a good dad") it endears her to you. man, im gettin misty eyed again...
highly commercialized, not very good, extremely depressingly mtv.
but hey, they are no doubt.
this is a fan site, its not good for pictures, but it seems to be religiously attuned to every move the band makes.
